Melissa Petro, OD

Dr. Melissa Z. Petro is a Florida licensed optometric physician and Florida native. She has been practicing in the Tampa Bay area since graduating from Nova Southeastern University with her Doctorate of Optometry while receiving the Chancellor’s Award for the class of 2018. Dr. Petro also attained her Masters of Public Health and Bachelors of Vision Science concurrently from NSU during her doctorate training. She attended Penn State University for her undergraduate degree. Additionally, Dr. Melissa Petro was named the Florida Young Optometrist of the Year by the FOA in 2021.

Dr. Petro practices at Clarkson Eye Care in Lutz at the Sunlake office. She specializes in primary eye care, ocular health, pediatrics, and dry eye management. Dr. Petro is a Board Member of the POA and she volunteers for the InfantSEE and Children’s Vision Committee for the AOA, in addition to being an InfantSEE provider. Outside of work, Dr. Petro and her husband have 2 toddlers and their family dog. If free time allows, Dr. Petro enjoys reading, doing yoga, and traveling with her family.
