About John Akers
Dr. Akers is a graduate of Michigan State University and achieved his Doctor of Optometry Degree at Nova Southeastern University. Practicing in Michigan for greater than 20 years, his passions have led him to a Board of Directors role with the Eye Health Institute of Jamaica.
He is Clinic Director of the Grange-Kendal Health Center Eye Clinic. Working with the Jamaican Ministry of Health to deliver free eye care to the citizens of the western parishes of Jamaica, where half the population will never receive eye care of any kind.
In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife and son. Along with outdoor activities and amateur track and field events and rooting on the Spartans.
