This is one of the many ways that sets Clarkson Eyecare apart from other eye care providers. As such, because of our commitment to providing our patients with the latest innovations in patient care, we now offer the Optomap® as an important part of our eye exams.
What is an Optomap® Retinal Scan?
An Optomap® is a detailed digital image of the retina produced by Optos® scanning laser technology. This imaging enables you and your eye doctor to see your retina in rich detail and can be saved to use for future comparisons to monitor the health of your retina.
The Optomap® produces an image that is unique and provides Clarkson Eyecare with a high-resolution 200° image helping to ascertain the health of your retina. This view is much wider than a traditional 45° image. Many eye problems can develop without symptoms, in fact, you may not even notice any change in your sight – fortunately, diseases or damage such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal tears or detachments, and other health problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be seen with a thorough exam of the retina.

The optomap is fast, easy, and comfortable for anyone. The entire imaging process consists of you looking into the device one eye at a time. The optomap images are shown immediately on a computer screen to review.
Comprehensive Eye Exam
Learn more about our comprehensive eye exams, performed both virtually and in-person. The eye doctors at Clarkson Eyecare recommend comprehensive eye exams at least once every two years for adults over the age of 20.
